Why Jesus?
In a world filled with uncertainty, pain, and brokenness it’s natural to ask where true hope can be found. The message of the Bible is clear: real hope is not an idea, a philosophy, or a feeling but is a person. Jesus Christ, God Himself, stepped into our world to reveal Himself, to carry our burdens, and to open a way back to Him. Through His life, death, and resurrection, Jesus offers forgiveness, peace, and new life. He is not just one option among many; He is the hope of the world – and He can be your hope today.
The Hope we have in Jesus
Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.

God is Holy
God is perfectly good, pure, and set apart from everything that is wrong or evil. He is the creator of all things, and He created us to know Him, worship Him, and enjoy a personal relationship with Him. He invites us to come to Him with honour, awe, and reverence.
Exodus 15:11 / Psalm 100:3 / Isaiah 43:7 / Leviticus 11:44
We have sinned
Although God created us to live in relationship with Him, we have all turned away from Him. Our sin – our wrong choices, selfishness, and rebellion – separates us from God. This separation brings death and keeps us from experiencing the life God intended.
Romans 3:23 / Romans 5:6 / Isaiah 59:2 / Romans 6:23
What is sin?
Sin is what we did. When we live contrary to God’s design in disobedience. When we live independent of God in pride. When we live in disbelief.
Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world.
John 1:29
We need a saviour: Jesus is that saviour
Sin results in death, but Jesus paid the price for us to be free. Jesus, God’s Son, is the Saviour who rescues us from death, he was sent to pay the price for our sin. Through Him, forgiveness and new life are possible. Salvation is a gift that cannot be earned; it can only be received by trusting in Jesus.
Acts 4:12 / John 3:16 / Romans 5:18-21
Jesus came, lived, died for us and rose again
Jesus didn’t just teach about God – He lived a perfect life, died on the cross to take the punishment for our sins, and rose again to defeat death. His resurrection shows that sin and death no longer have the final word. By trusting in Jesus, we can be forgiven and enter into a restored relationship with God.
Romans 5:8 / Ephesians 1:7 / 1 Corinthians 15:3-8 / Galatians 3:13
Jesus promises us that he will come back again
Jesus’ story doesn’t end with His resurrection. He promises to return and bring those who trust Him into eternal life with God. This hope reminds us that our lives have a purpose, our faith is secure, and God’s plan is unshakable.
And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.
John 14:3
Your New Life in Christ
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
What does it mean to believe?
To “believe” in Jesus is more than agreeing with the facts about Him – it’s trusting Him with your whole life. Belief means acknowledging that Jesus is who He says He is – Lord, Saviour, and King – and choosing to follow Him. At the heart of belief is surrender: submitting faithfully to His authority and living under His lordship every day.
- Recognising Jesus as the Son of God and the only way to be saved
- Trusting His death and resurrection as the basis of our forgiveness
- Submitting to Him as Lord, letting His Word and Spirit guide our lives
- Living in faithful obedience, even when it costs us
A New Beginning
If you’ve come to believe in Jesus, something incredible has happened – you are no longer who you once were. The Bible says you have been made new (2 Corinthians 5:17). Your past no longer defines you; your identity is now found in Christ. Believing in Him is the start of a brand-new life with God, one filled with hope, purpose, and His transforming love.
What We Receive When We Accept Jesus as Lord
When you receive Jesus, your whole life changes. God forgives your sins completely through the blood of Jesus, and you are made right with Him – not by anything you’ve done, but through faith. You are welcomed into His family as a dearly loved child of God, and you receive the promise of eternal life with Him forever. On top of this, God gives you His Holy Spirit as evidence of this new life and to live within you, empowering and guiding you each day.
Forgiveness of Sins
When we put our faith in Jesus, all our sins (past, present, and future) are forgiven. His death on the cross paid the price in full, so we no longer carry the weight of guilt and shame.
“In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace.”
Ephesians 1:7
Right Standing with God
Through Jesus, we are made right with God – not by our own efforts, but by His grace. God sees us as clean, accepted, and justified because of what Jesus has done.
“Since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
Romans 5:1
A Child of God
When we accept Jesus, we are welcomed into God’s family. We are not just forgiven people – we are His sons and daughters, loved and cherished by our Heavenly Father.
“Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.”
John 1:12
Eternal Life
Jesus promises that those who trust Him will live forever with God. Death is no longer the end, but the beginning of a life with Him that never ends.
“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Romans 6:23
The Holy Spirit
God gives every believer the gift of the Holy Spirit, who lives within us. The Spirit guides us, strengthens us, comforts us, and helps us to grow more like Jesus every day.
“And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit.”
Ephesians 1:13
Jesus' Invitation:
The invitation for salvation is an invitation to follow Jesus. It all begins with a decision to put our trust in Jesus as our Saviour and as our Lord – believing He is who He says He is, and choosing to obey His teachings.
You can begin following Jesus today. Simply express what is in your heart in prayer. Here’s an example of what you may like to pray:
Dear Lord Jesus, I know I am a sinner, and I ask for your forgiveness. I believe you died for my sins and rose from the dead. I trust and follow you as my Lord and Saviour. Guide my life and help me to follow you. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Water Baptism
Being baptised into Christ is a means of grace for our new life as disciples of Jesus. It joins us with Jesus in His death, burial and resurrection and is something we do out of faithful obedience to Jesus’ lordship.
Continuing in your new life with Jesus
It’s all about relationship. Like any relationship, it takes intentionality, time and support to grow and flourish. Apply these spiritual practices to grow in your relationship with Jesus:
Pray
Prayer is simply talking to God. The bible reveals God as our Father who hears and meets with us in prayer.
How do you pray?
P – Pause; breathe deeply and be still in God’s presence.
R – Rejoice; what’s been good today? Thank God for it.
A – Ask God to help you and those you care about.
Y – say Yes to God; welcome His love, His plans and His presence into your day.
But most importantly, keep it real (it’s not about a performance), keep it simple and keep it up!
